Meet Artist cj fleury as she guides you through a tour of her 15 art  installations along Pretson Street.  This free walking tour will run on both Saturday, September 25 and Sunday, September 26th from approximately 11am - 1pm.  Reservations for this tour are required.  Particpants are asked to meet on the corner of Preston and Primrose at 11am.  Bring your walking shoes as you will walk approx. 1.5 km.

CJ Fleury has been selected as the winner of the Preston Street Rehabilitation public art project. Her work entitled Postcards from the Piazzas will consist of 15 bronze and granite sculptures that echo designs of Italian piazzas and stories from the Preston Street community.

Each unique work will be composed of a stylized bronze object on top of a granite art-column and made to human scale. The columns will be engraved with text and designs drawn from Italian Piazzas, the local community and human connections to Preston Street. According to the artist, “the sum of visual and verbal design elements offers a contemporary play with scale, abstraction, communication and time.”

cj fleury is recognized for her collaborative involvement with community in the creation of her art. For Postcards from the Piazzas, c j will actively engage the Preston community in the public art process through the collection and inclusion of authentic letters, memories and stories.

La Vendemmia - Ottawa's Celebration of Italian Wine & Food

In Italian tradition, harvest time is when Farmers gather together to celebrate the earth's bounty, catch up with their neighbors, and offer their produce. It is a time of merriment, celebrating the end of the intense work involved in planting, growing, and harvesting. Wine -- being such an integral part of any gathering of friends -- has its own celebratory harvest tradition. Fresh off the vine grapes are poured into huge vats, and crushed in the first stage of this centuries old art form. View all La Vendemmia events at www.prestonstreet.com/lavendemmia/
